“A really really miraculous guitar player.” - Vince Gill, MCA recording artist, 20-time Grammy Award recipient, Country Music Hall of Famer
Guitar is the thing I have been most interested in all of my life. I play all kinds of guitars and played all the parts (rhythm, lead, fingerpicking, and solos) on each of the sample recordings. I am available for both acoustic and electric parts but please message me before ordering to work out details.
I use a variety of new & vintage guitars & amplifiers with a lot of attention given to sculpting the right tone for your project. I never use emulations or digital modeling and am a bit of a purist.
Real instruments, real amps, real mics conscientiously placed, real tones. Rhythm guitar is one of my favorite things to do but solo work (both unaccompanied solo guitar as well as electric guitar solos) tends to be my specialty and I have an extensive familiarity both standard and alternate tunings if your track benefits from a different approach (like Joni Mitchell’s tunings sometimes shaped the entire track).
I also keep a high strung guitar as well as variety of electrics and extensive pedalboard to cover any conceivable part or musical style but limit my work to areas of my expertise with organic tones.
EDM is not my forte.
“There are strains of rag-influenced Piedmont and swing here, among multiple other elements. But Weaver’s most obvious inspiration is probably Chet Atkins, and it isn’t hard to imagine Atkins smiling with approval at this album” – Rick Allen, Vintage Guitar Magazine
"I got the feeling right away that he was a dedicated musician, continually seeking out new things. One of the main qualities every musician must have to endure is versatility. Sean Weaver has it in spades." - Richard Bennett, Studio veteran of 40+ years (Rodney Crowell, Marvin Gaye, Ringo Starr) & longtime guitarist with Neil Diamond and Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits
Although his earliest memories are of climbing up on a countertop to reach FM radio, since then Sean Weaver has traversed many musical pathways ranging from Chicago & Texas blues to an uncanny command of the major guitar figures of the 1960’s rock era, to the “golden age” of ‘50s Chet Atkins and 20th century country-blues minstrels, putting him on stages and festivals including the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society, National Summer Guitar Workshop, and historic Ryman Auditorium. A graduate of Belmont University & recipient of awards from both the Home of the Legends Thumbpickers Association and Jimi Hendrix Electric Guitar Competition, playing on sessions is one of his favorite things to do and he is available for remote recording work out of his home studio in Nashville, TN.
Sean Weaver performed & worked in a wide range of styles with a host of artists ranging from studio & stage veteran of 40+ years Richard Bennett, Thom Bresh, Billy Cox of Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsies, Tommy Emmanuel CGP, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Les Paul, Richard Smith, Lee Ann Womack, and more.
His solo guitar album, Half Past Midnight, is available at CD Baby, and he specializes in custom curriculums for students the world over via Skype.
